About Toneworks
Toneworks have a long standing fascination with motors and other electro-mechanical components, both in their makeup and function.
It is this fascination that has given us the experience and know how of what does and doesn’t work, not only with pickups, but with their results; their associated components such as potentiometers, resistors and capacitors.
We are also very familiar with wind wire and magnet characteristics.
There is a lot to be said for electronic theory because it works, or at least it has done for us time and time again.
We test our pickups using flat response amplifiers to hear what really goes on in the final stages, using oscilloscopes and other equipment to see resonant response peaks. This, along with other tried and tested methods, helps us to match our pickups to positions on a guitar, i.e. bridge, middle or neck position.
It helps us to keep records of our results and most important of all, give you just what you want.
You won’t see the 'big boy' manufacturers forgoing theory and relying solely upon what sounds good. They really do their homework and so do we!
Having said that, we don’t just rely upon theory either. We here have been playing guitar, bass and other instruments both in studio and live situations.
Our collective playing experience spans more than thirty five years.
We know what “sounds good”, we know the importance of and how to “sound good” and we know how to catch that “good sound”.
We endeavour to reproduce that sound in our pickups. Every time!!!
So be you a rock, blues, jazz, metal or other guitarist, there is nothing that we cannot do for you here.
If we do somehow manage to fail, we will try and try again to get it right. That is a promise from us to you. Guaranteed
