P90 Pickup Choices

We can provide 'vintage', 'hot', 'superhot' or 'blues' style pickups for the P90.

'Blues' comes in flush profile only; all others can be flush, staggered or adjustable.

Gibson P90 type description

***Please note*** Guitar body routing will be necessary if replacing single coil or humbucker pickups since the P90 is longer than both*****

The vintage design includes:

1. Nickel plated adjustable pole pieces
2. Double opposing Alnico III magnets
3. 43-gauge plain enamelled wind wire
4. Potted

Wind wire types:

Bridge Pickup

42-gauge plain enamelled wire.

Bright and clear traditional telecaster bridge pickup tone preserved.

Neck Pickup

43-gauge plain enamel wire.

Lighter gauge wire gives close output to that of the bridge pickup whilst giving a more compact size of pickup coil. RWRP option available.

Output:

Vintage: 7.7Kohm

Hot: 8.6Kohm Magnet: Alnico 5

Super Hot: 10.4Kohm Magnet: Alnico 8 (slightly overwound)

Under winding this pickup will yield a thinner tone and less output. ADJUSTABLE POLES CAN BE USED TO INCREASE OR DECREASE OUTPUT.

This can be manufactured to P-90 “Blues” specification.
The blues P90 pickups are based on Gibson P90 single coil pickups, continuing the same exterior format, but with a modified interior. Blues P90s have:

  • Alnico 5 magnets for pole pieces (Non adjustable, non staggered)
